Dec 5 experience. Had to throw away my food. My pork chow mein was not edible. I could eat the rice only because i was hungry Almost threw up after eating my egg roll. The taste was that bad. The sauce didn't help, it might be fermented. The rice was over soy sauced. The maxim lo mein was without sauce and completely different than described. The taste and presentation was awful. I'm not sure why it was that bad. They had 4 cooks working and yet it looked as if I got what was meant for the disposal.
I can't say enough about this place! The food is excellent! The prices are reasonable. They deliver to Tyngsboro. Their store is always clean and the employees are super friendly. We will not get Chinese food from anywhere else around! Food is always fresh and hot everytime! I would highly recommend you try them!
This place makes horrible fried rice. Try below for good fried rice.
Lo Kai - across the street - best fried rice in the area.
Pan Asia Restaurant - Nashua
Ruby China - Pelham, NH
Purple Bamboo - Billerica
This place has gone way downhill since the old owners left. I ordered here a couple times with the new owners and both times the food has been cold to luke warm. They also give less food than they used to and charge more money. Will not be returning
China Maxim is under new management and ownership. The Chinese family that owned and operated China Maxim for decades is gone. When the original Chinese family owned the restaurant, it was my go-to-place for traditional old fashioned Chinese food for decades.
Under the new owners, the name of the restaurant is the same, and so is the menu, however, the food I had was terrible. I had the "B" combination plate, which consists of Beef Mushroom Chow Yoke, Boneless Spear Ribs, Chicken Fingers, and Pork Fried Rice, with a small side order of Beef Teriyaki.
The Beef Teriyaki was burnt to a crisp, there was no Teriyaki marinate, essentially, I received a small container of burnt pieces of meat on a stick. The combination plate wasn't much better. I received a small portion of tasteless boneless spear ribs in some kind of Red marinade that had little or no flavor. The Chicken fingers were greasy and limp, and the Beef Chow Yoke tasted funky, and if I didn't know better, I'd assume it came out of a can. The food was terrible both in terms of its quality, and the skimpy portions. I ended up throwing out all the food. It just wasn't edible.
If you were a fan of the restaurant when it was owned and operated by the original Chinese family, you'll be very disappointed with the complete nose dive that the quality of the food has undergone and the skimpy portions. I can't recommend China Maxim with its new owners. The food was just terrible.
New ownership=BAD FOOD!!!! Crab Rangoon tasted like fish not crab, rice bland and dry and what the heck happened to the duck sauce?! Anyone know where the old owners went?!
China Maxim has new owners. I had been going here since 1983, it was my go to place. I got to know the owners over all these years and watched their family grow from youngsters to college age. I grew up on the Northshore of Boston and had my go to Chinese Food favorites, and found China Maxim to be very similar.
Unfortunately all things must change and they sold their business. The food is now terrible!!!!!! Burnt and very greasy boneless spareribs, chicken fingers with the breading so thick it is like eating a chicken sandwich. I am looking for a new go to restaurant in the Dracut area that has outstanding food.
Been going here for decades. I don't live in the area anymore but I always make a point to come by when I'm in the neighborhood. Absolutely the best appetizers. My favorites are crab Rangoon, beef or chicken teriyaki, and pork strips.
